SOLAR PANEL PROJECT
An installation of a 10K solar panel system on
the Micro Fit program has recently been installed at Sydenham
Street United Church, Brantford, Ontario.
Our system consists of 52 solar panels rated at
220 watts each and 52 enphase micro inverters rated at 190 watts
each.
This system was installed on an approximately 45°
sloped roof facing a southerly direction and was completed on
August 6, 2010.
System cost was approximately $75,000 with a
private donation of $50,000 given to the church leaving a church
obligation of $25,000.
The feed in tariff program of .802 cents per
kilowatt/hour is guaranteed for 20 years.
Our forecasted income for 20 years is $205,900

It is recommended that any organization
considering this type of program consider the following steps.
1. Pick a reputable contractor
2. Apply to Ontario Power Authority (OPA)
for approval of project.
3. Do nothing until written authority
is received from OPA.
4. Contact your local power authority
for input and advice.
5. Obtain structural engineering
report approving the building for installation.
6. Meet with ESA and receive their
approval.
7. Obtain building permit.
8. Meet with contractor, ESA and local
electrical authority for agreement on installation location and
all procedures.
9. After completion and hook up to the
grid forward to OPA necessary documentation for contract
approval.
10. Receive contract in writing from OPA.
11. Payment will commence at a date
following this contract being received by the municipality (The
City of Brantford payments are monthly).
Please note: A reputable contractor will do most
of the above items on your behalf if negotiated as part of the
contract in advance.
